Just Say No to MS Error Reporting

If you work with a lot of different programs (or one that’s really buggy) there’s a good chance you’ve seen the Microsoft Error Reporting dialog.

It pops up whenever a program that you’re using crashes, and then asks if you want to send a report to Microsoft about it. If you’re someone that likes to send reports to Microsoft, then you can leave it as is, and report away.

For many people however, this is a nuisance and it would be nice if it just stopped happening. Here’s how to turn it off:

Go to Control Panel, then System. Click on the Advanced tab, and towards the bottom right, you should see a button that says “Error Reporting”.

Click on that, and you’ll see this:

Error reporting

Click on “Disable Error Reporting” and then hit OK.

You will not be asked again to send reports in when you get a crash.
