This is a test post using Microsoft’s beta of Windows Live Writer. It supposedly lets you create posts in a stand-alone program and then upload them to your blog.
Why would you want to do that? Well, it looks like there’s a lot of control for how the post is laid out, including doing things like having text wrap around images, etc. While that can be done directly in WordPress, it takes a fair amount of knowledge to set up properly, and I can’t code my way out of a wet paper bag.
So here’s a little bit of text wrapping around an image. No, the image has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m typing here…I just wanted to see how well it worked.
Looks pretty easy so far. I was also able to scale the image down a little, and the text adjusted automatically.
Apparently, Live Writer also supports maps. Let’s find out:
Yep.
All you do is click on the Insert Map button, and specify the address and then zoom in on the map viewer that pops up.
Pretty cool.
So I’ll have to run this through a few paces to see how well it works, but I’m especially interested in how well it handles inserting images into posts.
If you want to check out the beta of Live Writer, it’s here.
