No PS3 for Me! (Yet)

So somehow I got it into my head that since I lived in a small town, I might have a better chance of scoring a PS3…maybe the lines would be shorter or something. After all, if everybody else is out milking cows or working in the mines, who’s got time to stand in line for one of them new-fangled video game machines? Right?

Fat chance.

I arrived at Walmart shortly after noon, only to find 14 people already waiting in line. This was problematic, as there were only 10 PS3’s at Walmart, and they were the only store in town that had any. Since they weren’t going on sale till midnight, that means these people were going to be waiting in line for 12 hours. I remember waiting in line for about 5 hours for the PS2, at a Walmart in Vegas several years ago. 12 seemed like too much, especially when there weren’t going to be enough systems anyway.

The line wasn’t even outside, it was at the lay away department, with chairs and everything.

Out of curiosity I asked those in line what games they were going to get…almost all of them said “Resistance: Fall of Man” which was very cool to hear. I told them I’d worked on it, and at first got that look like “Yeah, sure you did.” But after flashing my business card got a lot of “cool!” and basked in my 5 minutes of fame.

I was hoping someone would feel sorry for me and give up their place in line, but no offers were forthcoming. Looks like I’m going to have to exercise patience and wait for a future PS3 shipment.

It was cool to finally see the game on store shelves though:

After working on it for so long, despite already knowing what the packaging will look like, it’s still great to see the final product in the stores. Reviews have been good, so hopefully we’ll sell a bunch!
