I learnt the hard way - I was taken off Google's index because of a vulnerability in 2.2. Someone managed to put in links to spam sites that didn't go well with Google's quality guidelines. They took me off the index and notified me. Lots of digging later, I found the template had been tampered with. A quick upgrade to 2.7.1 and a couple weeks later, I'm back on the index...
